|Book 2: Angleworm||Page 40: Procession||
The background is white.
- Panel 1
Zane is walking along the curving trail of three lines of blood in the snow. He is wearing his pajamas and is barefoot, and he looks worried as he walks, hunched over, with his arms crossed tightly over his chest. The snow is falling thickly, and in the background, the sky is light blue with white silhouettes of tall pine trees towering over Zane. The blustery air and snow make the whole scene seem washed out and bright. All of the panel borders are teal blue, instead of the usual black. Although in most comics there is some variation between the size of the panels, in this one they are exactly the same size and shape. The effect is washed out and surreal.
- Panel 2.
Zane trudges on through the snow, walking parallel to the blood lines which are now straight.
- Panel 3.
He continues, starting to uncross his arms.
- Panel 4.
He continues, his arms to his side and a worried look on his face. A voice from behind him says "Bonjour."
- Panel 5.
The cartoon skeleton Cadavre is leaning against a tree that is about a foot away from the trail of blood. He is wearing his trademark beret and striped shirt, and his pose is relaxed, with one arm crossed over his chest and the other holding a cigarette. He looks curious as he looks over at Zane, asking "Where are you going, Monsieur Zane?"
- Panel 6.
Zane, continuing past the tree, looks down at the trail of blood, pointing at it with a concerned look on his face. He says "I'm following this path in the snow." Behind him, Cadavre takes a drag on his cigarette.
- Panel 7.
Cadavre, tossing his cigarette butt behind him, follows Zane along the path. His eyes are closed as he says "You do not look as if you *wish* to follow it..."
- Panel 8.
Zane, his face still concerned and holding one hand in a fist near his chest in a gesture of determination, doesn't look back as he says "I don't."
- Panel 9.
Cadavre, now walking next to Zane, gestures with one hand and looks up at him, saying "Yet you proceed."
- Panel 10.
Zane looks at Cadavre, his face worried, and says in small text, "It's the only way to see what comes next."
