The background is white.

Panel 1

Zane is sitting at a booth, a distracted look on his face as he folds his hands together in front of him, elbows on the table. He's not looking at the waitress, who has her pencil poised on top of her pad of paper and is asking "You sure I can't get you anything? Toast with a little jam?" He replies "Coffee and juice are just fine, thank you." Mercy is sitting in the booth next to him, and his dream diary is on the table in front of him, next to a steaming mug of coffee and a tall glass of juice. The waitress is the same one as was there before. She's wearing her pink and white uniform and has a puffy updo and lipstick. The background is a subdued greenish-teal, and the booth and table are both pink.

Panel 2.

The waitress looks curious and says "For a fella who doesn't seem to like the *food* here, you're acting like a regular. You sure there's no other reason you keep coming around?"

Panel 3.

Zane answers "It's just that Cubby's is so close to my shop. And the *joe* is strong enough." He looks anxious, eyes shifting to the side, and says "Plus I don't like... being alone in the mornings." Beside him, Mercy's head just barely peeks over the table.

Panel 4.

The waitress puts one hand on her hip and looks at him with a knowing smile, saying "Unfortunately, the way my shift is, I couldn't take you up on that. Should I see if I can get a later one...?" Zane looks up at her, smiling cheerily, and says "Oh! It's no problem. I like being in a place with a lot of activity. People coming and going."

Panel 5.

Zane's cheery smile doesn't change. The waitress looks deflated, her eyes looking off to the side.

Panel 6.

The waitress leaves, a grouchy look on her face. She says "Let me know if you need another cup." Her speech bubble is light blue, not the usual white, and there are short blue lines underneath her words, comic shorthand for depressed, annoyed or sarcastic speech. Zane beams, saying "I will! Thank you ma'am!"
