|Book 2: Angleworm||Page 57: Cold Down There||
The background is white.
- Panel 1
Iris is resting in Zane's bed, wearing a green nightgown with a high lace collar, while Zane is on the cot on the floor, wearing his striped pajamas. She smiles down at him, saying "You won't get too cold down there?" He smiles back, somewhat awkwardly, saying "These blankets will be more than enough! Good night. And thanks." She replies "Night!" cheerfully.
- Panel 2.
Iris is laying on her side, facing away from Zane. Zane is lower to the ground than she is, and is laying on his back, his eyes wide open and his fingers clutching the comforter.
- Panel 3.
Zane squeezes his eyes shut, his eyebrows drawn together. Iris hasn't moved. The space between the panels is a little bit wider than usual.
- Panel 4.
Zane opens his eyes a bit and looks annoyed. Thin, wavy yellow lines come from his face, showing the strength of his annoyance at still being awake. The space between the panels is a little bit wider than usual. Iris is still asleep.
- Panel 5.
Iris is still asleep. Zane closes his eyes and smiles, saying "Ha ha. Now that I *need* to fall asleep, I --" The space between the panels is even wider.
- Panel 6.
Zane says "Did." He is presumably dreaming, as he is in an entirely white field of snow, cot and all. He is sitting up, and still wearing his pajamas. To his left, about a foot away from the cot, a set of three parallel trails of red lines starts and leads in a straight line off of the strip's edge. There is no border, making it look as if he has fallen out of the normal comic strip panels into the background. The coloring is lighter, as if the light reflected from the snow makes it difficult to see.
