|Book 1: Curious Little Thing||Page 81: Re: Stacks||
The background is white.
- Panel 1
Zane, standing in front of a shelf of books, looks down, his hands on his hips and a thoughtful look on his face. He says "I have no idea what to expect from tonight's meeting."
- Panel 2.
He continues, "The only secret meeting I've been to that comes close was an encyclopedia salesman conference in *1929*." He puts his hand to his head and raises an eyebrow, a wry look on his face. He continues, "It was held on the first floor for a reason."
- Panel 3.
Iris says "It doesn't matter when it's over. I'll be reading here or at home. Come find me, we'll figure it all out."
- Panel 4.
Zane smiles at Iris, and she smiles back. He says "I'll do just that. And... Thank you, Iris. For trusting me. It feels like we're getting *close*. Er -- to an *answer*."
- Panel 5.
Zane starts to walk away, and Iris, one hand on her hip, watches him leave, saying "What are you going to do until then?" He answers "I'm going to walk around in the sun, while I can." Something catches his attention, and lines from his face indicate his surprise, while a thick dotted line towards something off the screen shows the direction of his gaze.
- Panel 6.
His eyes become tiny and terrified, and he starts to sweat. He says "But, um. There's a few things I need to check first."
- Panel 7.
He is standing in front of a large card catalog. There are at least a hundred and fifty little drawers in front of him, each holding information on library books. He is pushing each one in, his eyes blank and his teeth gritted, and thinking "Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed. Closed." The words seem to extend beyond the thought bubble, a visual representation of his obsessive thinking.
