The background is white.

Panel 1

Zane, still wearing his pajamas, is sitting in bed. His back is against his pillow, and he has his knees tucked against his chest with his arms wrapped around them, and his feet are covered by the rumpled blanket. He says "This is *ridiculous*. I don't have to be scared. It won't slip away again if I just *remember* to remember." His eyes are round and blank, and his expression is fearful. His dream diary rests in front of him, open and face down. Mercy is hanging from the cabinet mounted on the wall by the bed. Her wings are tucked in, and she's facing away from him. The room is dark, colored in mottled brown tones.

Panel 2.

Zane, still sitting in the same position, looks to the side and says "I'm in control now. I *am* in control now. Regardless of *anything* else that I've done. I *can* stop. I *can* break the pattern." His expression is doubtful. Mercy continues to hang from the cabinet.

Panel 3.

Zane smiles with forced cheer, looking over at Mercy, and says "I *know* I can. Nothing bad will happen when I get out of bed. When I go about my day. As long as I'm *vigilant*. As long as I'm *aware*."

Panel 4.

Zane continues, "I *can* break it. I don't *have* to be afraid. Get out of bed." His expression is blank, and his position is unchanged, as is Mercy's. Light from the nearby window shines into the room, creating a pattern of four squares of light on the blanket and dream diary. The scene is colored in shades of green.

Panel 5.

Zane continues to sit in a fetal position on his bed, his eyes small blank circles and his face expressionless. Mercy continues to hang from the cabinet, facing away from him. The light from the window has moved up, throwing the pattern of four squares of light onto the wall, the cabinet mounted on the wall and on Mercy. The scene is colored in purple tones.

Panel 6.

Zane continues to sit in a fetal position on his bed, his eyes small blank circles and his face expressionless. Mercy continues to hang from the cabinet, facing away from him. The light from the window has moved up, throwing the pattern of four squares of light further up on the wall, nearly above the cabinet. The scene is colored in blue tones.
